Militant Incidents in Thailand (April 2016)

1. Apr. 01 – Terrorists fired a grenade and sprayed gunfire into a tea shop in the Raman district of the Yala province. Two civilians were killed and another one was seriously injured in the attack. The incident was attributed to the RKK. [BP, Nat & TPBS]
2. Apr. 02 – A former local government official was killed and two companions were injured when attackers raked their jeep with gunfire in the Bankha district of the Ratchaburi province. [BP & TPBS]
3. Apr. 03 – A local government official was seriously hurt when gunmen fired at his pickup truck in Yala‘s Bannang Sata district. [BP]
4. Apr. 04 – Three soldiers were wounded when their pickup truck was hit in a roadside bomb blast in the Takbai district of the Narathiwat province. [BP]
5. Apr. 05 – Militants detonated a roadside bomb as a paramilitary patrol passed by in Narathiwat‘s Rangae district. Nobody was hurt in the blast. [BP]
6. Apr. 06 – A deputy village chief and a companion were killed when motorcycle-borne militants raked their pickup truck with gunfire in the Rueso district of the Narathiwat province. [BP]
7. Apr. 07 – A former defense volunteer was shot to death by gunmen as he was riding his motorcycle in the Mayo district of the Pattani province. [BP]
8. Apr. 07 – Motorcycle-borne gunmen opened fire at two civilians having a drink outside a house in Yala‘s Muang district. Two men were wounded in the incident. [BP]
9. Apr. 08 – One soldier was injured when militants fired a grenade at an army base in the Bannang Sata district of the Yala province. [BP & Nat]
10. Apr. 09 – Two electricity pylons were blown up by a group of terrorists in the Nongchik district of the Pattani province. [BP]
11. Apr. 09 – A roadside bomb exploded as a police patrol passed by in the Nongchik district of the Pattani province. Two police officers were wounded in the attack. [BP & Nat]
12. Apr. 10 – Six officers sustained injuries when a roadside bomb exploded as police patrol passed by in the Thanto district of the Yala province. [Nat & TPBS]
13. Apr. 11 – A bomb fitted to a motorcycle exploded outside a railway station in the Chana district of the Songkhla province, killing a policeman and a civilian. Fifteen other people, including another officer, were wounded in the attack. [BP, Nat & TPBS]
14. Apr. 15 – A roadside bomb exploded as an army patrol passed by in Pattani‘s Yarang district. Four soldiers were injured in the blast. [BP & TPBS]
15. Apr. 16 – Militants opened fire at a security checkpoint in Pattani‘s Khokpho district. No one was hurt in the attack. [BP]
16. Apr. 16 – An electricity transformer was riddled with gunfire by militants in the Yaring district of the Pattani province. The attackers subsequently set fire to a nearby mobile phone tower. [BP]
17. Apr. 19 – One civilian was killed and fourteen others were wounded when a bomb attached to a motorcycle exploded outside a grocery store in Songkhla‘s Thepa district. [BP & Nat]
18. Apr. 23 – Militants shot and killed a defense volunteer as he was traveling to a rubber plantation on his motorcycle in Narathiwat‘s Sungai Kolok district. [BP]
19. Apr. 24 – Two soldiers sustained injuries when an army truck was hit in a landmine blast in the Saiburi district of the Pattani province. [BP]
20. Apr. 24 – A defense volunteer was shot to death by a militant as he was guarding a bank in the Muang district of the Yala province. [BP & TPBS]

23. Apr. 27 – Gunmen fired at a couple riding a on motorcycle in Pattani‘s Yarang district, killing the man and wounding his wife. [Nat]
24. Apr. 28 – A soldier was killed and five colleagues were wounded when bomb exploded at a construction site where paramilitary troops were helping civilians in the Yaha district of the Yala province. [BP, Nat &, & TPBS]
25. Apr. 28 – Attackers hurled a hand grenade at a paramilitary patrol in the Kapho district of the Pattani province, injuring two soldiers. [BP & TPBS]
