  • Dec. 11, 2016 – A suicide bomber blew himself up inside a chapel of the seat of the Coptic Christian church in Qahira, killing 29 worshippers and wounding at least 47 others. [Ahr, AM, AP, DNE, EI & Reut]

The DaIM released a statement in which it claimed responsibility for the following attacks:

  • Apr. 09, 2017 – A suicide bomber exploded at the entrance of a Coptic Orthodox church in the Manshiya suburb of Iskandariya. Eighteen people were killed and at least 48 others were wounded in the blast. Seven police officers were among the dead. [Ahr, Bal, Baw, DNE & EI]
  • Apr. 09, 2017 – A suicide bomber blew himself up during services at a Coptic Orthodox cathedral in the city of Tanta, in the Gharbiya governorate. The blast killed thirty people and wounded at least 71 others. [Ahr, Bal, Baw, DNE & EI]

The DaIM issued a communiqué in which it asserted responsibility for the following attack:

  • May 26, 2017 – A band of gunmen sprayed gunfire at a bus carrying members of the Coptic Christian community as it was traveling to a monastery near the town of Adwa, in the Minya governorate. The DaIM distributed a statement in which it asserted responsibility for the following incident:

  • Dec. 29, 2017 – A gunman fired into a church in the Helwan suburb of Qahira, killing a policeman, seven Christians and a bystander. Five security guards were injured in the shooting. One of the assailants was shot dead in retaliatory gunfire by security forces. [Ahr, AP, DNE, EI & Reut]
